installing new HD

Hello there. I will be getting a new 1.2 GB HD soon. But before I
get it, I need to know if it will work on my system. Here are my
questions:

My BIOS does not support EIDE or still have the IDE 512 MB limit, will
I be able to use all 1.2 GB space on it with a disk manager?

The only open bay in my computer is a full hight bay. Since all new
EIDE HD are half hight device, will I be able to mount it in that bay?
On my system manual, it said if I am to mount a half hight device, I
will need something called adapter frame. What is the adapter frame?
And do I really need this adapter frame?

One last questions: what exactly do I need to install a new HD? Those
HD kit suppose to have all the things necessary. But what if I am
buying the OEM version. What do I need from the kit to install and
use the HD?

Thanx in advance. Please reply with e-mail at: gchu@direct.ca
