I have an Audigy soundcard that's been giving me problems with popping sounds showing up in wav files once they've been saved. Running Win98 (1st ed), IBM PL300 450mhz PIII. After trying a number of other fixes, I've since noticed that the 1 gig Seagate 2nd hard drive I installed which I use as my primary drive for digital audio is FAT 16, whereas the C drive is FAT 32. I tried to convert the 2nd drive to FAT32 but it won't take for some reason. Keeps saying "partition not found". The drive is currently just 1 big partition. If the 2 drives are not the same FAT system, could that cause corruption of files when saving? Thanks!

Digital audio ripped from CDs or recorded from line-in? The former is caused by problems with your CD drive. Data corruption on the hard drive would show up as much more than just sound problems (run scandisk). 1 gig!..older drive mechanics are notorious for sound problems....motors were not isolated as much as they are today.
