Not all 3000's will go to the next level/3500 level/183mhz... some only go to 179/180. Even then if you get it up there you're best advised to use a fan. So fan expenditure for clocking up to the next level board is equal between the 2000 and 3000. >2. Higher triangle rate Due purely to a faster mem/chip clock. If I clock the 2000 to 166 I get the same exact scores as the 3000 at 166. This point's moot. >2. A faster RAMDAC Which you'll only appreciate if you need to run 2D at 1200x1600 x75/85hz refresh - faster RAMDAC = higher refresh rates at extreme 2D resolutions.. Most of us don't go above 1024. Some of us don't even have a monitor capable of 75/85hz at stuff above 1024x1280 or even lower. In 3D no difference baby. >3. 2 full games and the special edition Descent3. Plus a coupon for Unreal >Tournament. Well, unofficially, can get all of them from alt.binaries.games and alt.binaries.cd-image. But officially on this point if you don't already have NFS3 or Unreal it's already worth the extra $20. UT is worth it too. But i don't care about pack-in software. Others will. >Is that not worth $20? One other point is the TV-out, which is also a plus in favor of the 3000. However I've never thought TV-out was practical, or all that incredibly good.. the V3's is passable but not as good as Canopus' or Asus'.. even then it's kinda just a novelty - just my opinion. All in all however the 3000 is an awesome deal, biggest strongpoint is the strength of the pack-ins. However I didn't need the pack-ins, I had a fan lying around, and didn't feel like spending the extra $20. And I'm clocked at 180 now, no glitches. I don't know how the hell 3dfx is gonna sell any 3500's with the cheaper cards being so damn overclockable.
