Out of curiosity, I'll add the following: my friend got a 486DX-40 (AMD)
in a clock synth board. Norton 6 SI said 86.4 for CPU index. Then we
plugged a fan to the CPU, jumpered the board to 50 MHz, and SI said
something like 110. The ET4K/W32 needed one wait state to work in a 50
MHz VESA slot.

Too bad I can't recall Checkit numbers for this board, but it said
maximum perf level reached for both CPU and float...
