Here's how to get information about 3Com's ethernet adapters.
This is mostly taken from our internal phone book and the CardFacts
cover sheet.
1. Product info for prospective customers: 1-800-638-3266.
Outside the USA: 408-764-5673.
2. Technical support for people who already own boards: 1-800-876-3266.
Outside the USA: 408-492-1790
3. "CardBoard" BBS 1-800-876-3266
4. Customer service via Internet: Andy_Chan@3Mail.3com.com
5. "CardFacts" interactive FAX system 408-727-7021.
When you call "CardFacts," have your fax number handy.
Technical Reference Manuals (TRMs) for 3Com adapters are available to
developers. Please do not abuse this service; if everybody who
owns an adapter asks for a TRM then the budget for giving them
away will run out and we'll have to be less free with them.
The TRMs are only useful to driver writers and repair folks;
they don't talk about
end user installation and configuration. End user info should have
been shipped with your board, along with "Etherdisk," a collection
of drivers, diagnostics, and our end-user installation programs.
Anyhow, to get a TRM, call "CardFacts" and ask the nice robot for
Document #9070, the "Developers [sic] Order Form". The robot will
ask for your fax number and send you the form. Fax the form to
Terry Murphy at 408-764-5004 and her assistant will send you the
manual you need. I think we use Federal Express 2nd Day service.
This procedure is somewhat more reliable than just calling or mailing
Terry, but if you don't have a fax and nobody you know has a fax,
and nobody they know has a fax, you can mail
Terry_Murphy@3Mail.3com.com.
We don't make the TRMs available in electronic form (yet). Management
is concerned (rightly or wrongly) that this would result in altered
copies flying around. Sorry.
Finally, there's a 3C503 driver in the Linux source, if you're
curious about how to program the Etherlink II. Look in
sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/system/kernel.
Cameron, who doesn't know squat about Etherlink II.
