How about a fourth thing: that Gateway really is doing a
a reasonable job.  What we may be seeing here on the net is
that those who have had problems are more likely to speak up
than those who have had good service.  I have had overall
good service from Gateway.  With one early problem, it took
me a while to get through, but I solved that by volunteering
(insisting, actually) to stay on hold till someone would talk
to me.  When they did, the solved the problem quickly.

Sometime in the next year, I'll probably buy a 486.  Last
week, I looked around a computer show and my general conclusion 
was: yeah, I can save $100 or maybe even $200 bucks, but I
TRUST Gateway.  Unless something changes my mind between now
and then, my next machine will be a Gateway.
