To the best of my understanding the DOS is still 16 bit with large hooks for the 32 bit windows. All your standard DOS files can be found, although some have been renamed and made readonly and invisible. >If this is true, why have Microsoft stated in press releases that >Chicago is a stand-alone operating system? I think they are trying get an extra rung up the ladder by claiming that it is similar in design to NT - i.e. a desktop NT for home/buisiness. This would calm stabilty questions as NT has been out for quite some time. The product itsself appears to be one complete package. As for the claims of stand alone, it would depend on context and they could very well be claiming that the product will work on any machine that isn't networked... Probobly on a smaller note OS/2 Warp seems to be gaining acceptance, and MS might just be a little shy of it. >Just wondering, >Glen. Any discrepancies in the above are the fault of my keyboard.... -- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Duncan Goode >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> << Post: Coles Supermarkets, PO Box 480, Glen Iris 3146, Australia >> << Phone: +61 3 829 5193 E-mail: dgoode@coles.com.au >> << FAX: +61 3 829 6886 >> -- The opinions of the poster do not necessarily represent those of the company.
