Today I went out and tried to buy a 300 Mb HDD, but alas they are quite short
of them at the moment.  Appears I just missed one by half an hour.  I could
have gotten a 400 Mb but $MONEY$ didn't permit :-(  Instead I got a LPS240AT
(240 Mb IDE with 256 K cache).  On Usenet I went into
/usr/spool/news/comp/sys/ibm/pc/hardware/ and went "grep -y quantum *" and
(among other things) your message popped up.  I was afraid to look in case of
the "horror-stories" that I have seen included this drive.  None at present
fortunately.

I suggest you get a sticker and write clearly on it the logical heads, logical
cylinders and logical tracks and stick this ON THE DRIVE.  I have had a
million drives with their model number on it ok but you never get the manual
when she's a hand-me-down (as they all seem to end up being :-)
