WordStar -- Tech Support from Hell

I want to nominate Wordstar's Atlanta Tech Center for the 1994
"Tech Support from Hell" award.

They (in theory) provide support for the Z-Soft UltraFax product.

Strike 1)
On a recent Friday, I called them at 5:30 EST. A voicemail system
answered, and told me Tech Support was open 9:00 until 6:00 pm. Then
it gave me a LONG list of options, NONE of which was to connect to
Support. Then it hung up on me.

Strike 2)
Monday (President's Day, so it happens) I called at 9:15, after talking
to Corel in Orlando. This time, the vomitmail said "Please hold on."
Then, it gave me the standard "We are REALLY busy so just hang on."
Then TEN minutes later, "We're too busy to bother with you. We're going
to hang up. Call us later."

Strike 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
Same as strike 2.

Strike 8)
At 2:30 that afternoon, I called once again. THEN the announcement said
"We're closed today, Bye!"

They did have a Compu$pend address in the Fine Manual, and a FAX. So I
figured I would send all the info to them via that route, in hopes of
getting a reply early Tuesday.

Tuesday at 9:00 AM, I call and get Yet Another Voicemail Blowoff. "Our
_Temporary_ hours start at 11:00"

So at 11:00, I call, wait for 15+ minutes, and get someone who admits
he's yet to install it himself ;-{ But he helps me fumble around and we
find out that neither the correct InfoTel modem, nor the autodetected
one, works. No idea why. A third one does however.

I figure the customer has 5x the cost of the product in LD bill.

A loud Bronx cheer for WordStar's Tech Support From Hell.

My call to Hercules that day took me 7 minutes. They're sending a
replacement board.

ps: WordStar has yet to answer the email or fax.
