From article <rantapaa.716976766@s6.math.umn.edu>, by rantapaa@s6.math.umn.edu (Erik E. Rantapaa): > ... With the price between a 486/33DX and 50DX at > only a hundred dollars or so, expect the price of the 50's to INCREASE > SOON. I was told the reason for the 486/33 price change was to put it closer to the 486/50 in price to increase 486/50 sales, so the price of the 486/50 will not be going up. The reason for this is that the 486/50 chip is faulty and Intel wants to unload them quickly. The proof of this is suppose to be that Intel will *not* warranty the chip at all after sale. Again, this is heresay. However, if you are buying a 486/50 I would suggest that you be *very* sure that it is warrantied. Mike West west@esd.dl.nec.com
