Being extremely concerned about this issue, as I plan to buy a 386SL AST Power Exec and later upgrade it to a 486SL, I just got off the phone with AST Customer Information. The lady said they'd had a lot of calls about Intel discontinuing the 486SL, so AST called Intel and asked. Intel said that the article about the 486SL being discontinued was unauthorized, and that Intel has absolutely no plans to discontinue the 486SL.
