The VL+ "Hippo" board made by OCTEK (Ocean) produces the following sequence of tones on boot up: Low--High--High--High--Low--Low Al are long tones with gaps. No video display - Some pushing or proding will sometimes bring it back to life - Does anyone know what this sequence means? I've tried a VLB card (Cirrus Logic 5428) and an ISA Tseng Labs ET4000. Thought it might be a VL Slot problem at one time as first time the Tseng went in, it booted. Now the Tseng produces he same result. Has anyone got a manual for the Ocean (Octek) "Hippo" VL+ board? -- David Longley

If someone could give me a list of what the following jumpers are, it
may help track down the problem:
JP3 (and the one next to it - can't see the number)
JP4-5 ok - DX33/66 vs DX25/DX50
JP6,8,9 ok - DX/DX2 SX 467 select
JP13,14,15 ??
JP16 ?
JP7 ?
JP10 ?
BATTERY 3 PINS ?
apart from the BIOS chips, there's a socketed
PALCE 16V8H-15PC/4 (U4)
337PZMN J
PAL093-404
20 pin, DIL chip
also a soldered in
KMI SC425AP8 (U11)
9338
E6092 next to a 14.318 mhz cyrstal
HM6818P
9331 C38E1 (U18)
TOSHIBA 9323W (U20)
TC4069UBP
LM339N (U19)
The rest seem to be LS series chips.
Apart from the jumpers, can anyone identify any of the above as being
critical to the RTC problem. Also suggest what the tones mean as the
system will not start up at all.

That sound like it - do you know where that problem lies and what one can
do about it.
I'm *very* grateful for your help on this - you've gone a LONG way to
explaining what the problem is.

Thanks to the recent post, I checked the RAM chips and double checked how they are seated. That brought things back to life for now. I still have the RTC racing problem though. Can anyone edentify any of the chips I have listed and suggest what I can do to correct the problem? -- David Longley
