I actually purchased their "upgrade" package at this price, with the same
surprise billing. Luckily, it was a VISA purchase. I
	1) Immediately called Chipsoft and complained. They promised
           to credit the $4.50.
        2) Contacted the VISA issuer and contested the $4.50.
As of 6 weeks after the purchase, ChipSoft had not yet issued the credit.

I was, and still am, pretty upset about Chipsoft's marketing, slow response
to consumer complaints, and (possibly) empty claims of "improvements" to their
products. They add features which might make MacInTax easier to use for
simple returns, but do not correct basic design and interaction problems that
make MacInTax hard to use for longer returns.

But, well, it's the only product on the market. (Yes, I tried TaxCut Headstart
and many necessary features didn't work---like itemization sheets).
