On behalf of the Mac people I know at a couple of college Mac labs, and anyone
else who cares to join in, I would like to thank Mr. Norstad and his colleagues
at Northwestern for his work with Disinfectant.  I am certainly no expert on
computer viruses, but from my own experience and observation I conclude that
the rapid freeware distribution of Disinfectant had a lot to do with the
drastic reduction of Mac viruses.  About three or four years ago, I would get
viruses on my disks that I used in the college lab about once a week.  Now I
have set up a small Mac system for the program I teach in, and with about 15 or
20 people regularly using the system for about six months, I have yet to see
one virus, even an old one.
