A little while ago, I posted asking about a word processor that would journal
keystrokes/mouse clicks so a file could be recovered if the computer crashed.
I have since found out that Wordperfect has an adequate capacity for this.
While it seems to not exactly "journal" user activities, it has a timed
backup feature which causes the file to be written (either to a temporary
file or to the original) at whatever interval you specify (granularity seems
to be a minute). If the system crashes, when Wordperfect is restarted, it
notices the presence of the temporary files and asks whether you would like
to recover from them, into an untitled window. I've exercised this feature
several times, and it seems robust.
Note that unlike Word's Autosave feature, which bothers the user with a
dialog each time, Wordperfect's method is transparent to the user.
Hope this helps,
Rich
