I already answered the original question by email, but it seems that several people missed a very simple solution: tar. A small and free utility on the Mac can read/write disks in tar format. You need a high density disk formatted on the Mac and that's it. On the Unix you type tar cvf /dev/fd0a file.names.here to create an archive and tar xvf /dev/fd0a to extract it. If you're using this frequently, you can also say setenv TAPE /dev/fd0a in your .login file, and forget the f and /dev/fd0a above, so you'll have tar cv filenames and tar xv Oh, yes: tar for the Mac is on the archives, e.g. at umich it's util/compression/tar3.0.sit.hqx. Hope this helps. It is slightly simpler than going through DOS disks. g
