I use GopherApp on a Mac IIci with System 7 and MacTCP. GopherApp is neat in many ways, but I'm weary of waiting for it to display a text file or list of folders. For example, if I'm checking out the National Weather Service forecasts and click on the folder "Texas", its entire few hundred bytes are downloaded immediately, but GopherApp takes another 25-30 seconds to pop up the window showing the folders of the various cities and Current Conditions. If I then double click on the folder Dallas/Fort Worth, I have to wait another 25-30 seconds for the text window to appear AFTER the bytes of info have apparently been downloaded. Has anyone else been bothered by this? Is there a way to speed the process? The default allocation of memory to GopherApp is 704K; its suggested size is 400K. And I had NO other apps running when I timed GopherApp's performance. One more question. What's the difference between the commands in the File menu "Save" and "Save a Copy In..."? I didn't see this addressed in GopherApp's Help file, and I can't figure this out from the wording of the commands alone. Bob Novy ra_novy@dal.mobil.com Dallas, TX
