I recently ran into a problem in a Word file.  This a file that is very
important to me.  When I try to do a cut or copy of a small amount of
text, it can take 30-60 seconds to do the requested command.  On larger
amounts of text, Word thinks about cutting or copying a long time, but
then does nothing.  This problem happens only in Word, and seems to happen
only on this particular file (I tried copying and cutting in similar
size files with no problem).  Also, if I take my file over to a different
machine (a IIci) there are no problems.  My system configuration is a
Mac IIfx with 20 Mb of ram.  I have 32 bit addressing and virtual memory
off.  I am using Maxima to create a 10 M ram disk.  Generally, I keep
just my system folder on the Maxima ram disk.  Since this Word file is
rather large, and moving around in it is rather slow, I moved it over
to the Maxima ram disk for a while (I had to increase its memory).  I think
the problem started when I had the file on the ram disk.  I moved it back
to my internal hard drive, but I still have the problem.  I increased
Word's memory allocation to 2 M, and increased the cache to 1 M (and
I even tried raising it further).  The response time seemed to improve
some after all of these maneuvers, but still if I try to cut a large
portion of text (a page or two), nothing gets copied to the clipboard.
The document I am working on is quite large (150-200 pages), but I've
worked on similar size documents for the last few years and have never
encountered this problem.  I even tried reinstalling Word 5 (just the
application itself).  

I don't know what to try next.  Does anyone know what's going on or have
any suggestions on how to fix this problem??  Thanks.
