The latest version of GIFConverter (v. 2.3b2) will read JPEGs, 
but you have to put QuickTime (apple.ftp.com) in your system 
folder.

GIFConverter 2.3b2 is at sumex-aim.stanford.edu.  I think the 
path is /info-mac/graphics/GIF.

I takes a lot of memory, though.  I regularly allocate 3500K to 
it.
