Aldus FreeHand makes it easy to create this kind of diagram. When
a selection includes a line segment, only the end(s) within the selection
are considered part of the selection and only those endpoints move
when you drag. For example, consider a box with an incoming arrow
and two outgoing arrows. If you make a selection a bit larger than
the box, it will encompass the nearest line segment ends, and dragging
the box also repositions all the line ends. This solution certainly
isn't perfect. You still have to fix overlaps or lines that end up
on the wrong side of a box, but it saves a great deal of time over
other approaches.
