A while back I recall seeing a shareware anagram generator for the Mac
that was quite impressive. I think the author(s) were from Australia.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name or where it's archived (it
doesn't seem to be on info-mac). I do know that it is not called Karma
Manager or AnagramCrossword.
Any pointers?
Thanks!

I think the author(s) were from Australia. You're probably thinking of Anagrams by Andrew Trevorrow. It doesn't seem to be at info-mac, but it's in the UMich archive at util/text/anagrams1.2.cpt.hqx. > [...] I do know that it is not called Karma > Manager or AnagramCrossword. Karma Manager does have the best name for an Anagram Maker, though... -- Klaus (heilmayr@math.berkeley.edu)

I have shareware program on my HD called "Anagrams 1.2" by Andrew
Trevorrow and Nick Spencer from Australia. Must be what you're looking
for. I don't know about ftp sites, but I got it from the UK mag
MacFormat disk 27 (August 95).
Contact me if you want me to send it to you.
Hope this helps, regards,
Tom

I think the author(s) were from Australia. An anagram program that I like very much is "Ars Magna". In fact, lots of my colleagues like it too: Ned Mantei (eaten mind) Igor Friedmann (in random grief) Claude Oehninger (unheeding oracle) Miriam Dahme (her mad Miami) Django Brunschwiler (rewarding lunch jobs) and many more. -- Ned Mantei Dept. of Neurobiology, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology CH-8093 Zurich, Switzerland mantei@neuro.biol.ethz.ch Fax: +41-1-633-1046

As co-author I'm biased, but you'll find that Anagrams is faster and a lot easier to use than all the other anagram generators (Ars Magna, Karma Manager, etc). [...] Anagram Genius, which is widely considered to be the best anagram generating software, is currently being ported to the Mac by SRL Data. It is commercial software (but not expensive) and should be out within a couple of months. You can read about it on http://www.demon.co.uk/genius/ag.htm . There is also a form there where you can register an interest in the Mac version and be notified on its release. The site also contains lots of anagram examples and details of the Anagram Genius book (a book of anagrams generated by the software). One example: "Apple Macintosh" -> "Laptop machines" William Tunstall-Pedoe
