Dimensional Software of Aliso Viejo, California today announced an external 
package for 4th Dimension the relational database development software from 
ACIUS Inc. of Cupertino, California. dbTimer allows a 4th Dimension global 
procedure to be placed into the background and set to run at a user specified 
time of day or interval of time. Multiple procedures can be placed into the 
background each configured to run at a different time or interval. Using this 
package users could be automatically logged off a database at certain times 
of day to allow database backups to be performed or procedures could be run 
that make connections to other mainframe computers at preset intervals to 
update the local or remote databases. This package could also be used to 
access laboratory equipment at certain intervals and gather data to be 
processed by the database.

The procedures placed into the background can perform any operation 
available through the 4th Dimension language and are only limited by the 
developers imagination. Dimensional Software also includes SimpleMail, a 
simple electronic mail program implemented using 4th Dimension and dbTimer. 
SimpleMail can be incorporated into existing 4th Dimension databases royalty 
free.

Pricing for dbTimer has been set as outlined below. Dimensional software will 
be offering an introductory price for dbTimer until November 15, 1992.
