A tech support guy told me that I'd be a "beta tester" if I installed this PCI card. The only incompatibility issue that he'd heard about was with an Epson printer driver. He blamed Epson, not XLR8. XLR8 <http://www.xlr8.com/ProductInfo/dualport/index.html> sez: > Built for the Mac. > Supports all standard Mac USB components > DualPort USB utilizes a high performance USB chipset for the > maximum in USB performance and compatibility. > 12 Mbit/sec (mega bits per second) throughput If there's any possibility of flaky performance, I'd rather buy something boring and reliable like a four port Belkin card. 266 MHz beige G3 desktop. Don't try to talk me into getting a combo Firewire/USB card. I've already made up my mind--I'll wait for Firewire until I buy a G4 PowerBook next year. -- new weblog 01/20/01 <http://www.pe.net/~sputnik/blog.html>

I have an XLR8 usb pci card in my 7600/132 (beefed up with a G3 300MHz card), 160M ram, etc. I run a Canon 1220u scanner/epson 880 printer/epson digital camera and a zip drive (all usb) through a Belkin powered hub and the pci card itself. Everything has worked flawlessly. As a matter of fact, it worked so well I bought a similar setup for the office too. That too, works and runs like a raped ape. Get the card. ---------- In article <silly-B249DE.16345122012001@news.pe.net>, Thomas Armagost <silly@well.com> wrote: > A tech support guy told me that I'd be a "beta tester" if I installed > this PCI card. Fact of the matter is, I bought one from the aforementioned mailorder Mac store yesterday. It's on its way via Airborne 2nd Day Delivery, and so is an IceView hub. If you own an XLR8 product or are thinking about buying one, I recommend XLR8's Online Support Center. <http://www.xlr8.com/support/index.html> You can post questions to public forums such as _General USB Problems_ and actually receive a polite, coherent and relevant response. -- new weblog 01/22/01 <http://www.pe.net/~sputnik/blog.html>
