Toast 5.1.2, DVD problems

Hello,

We have a very weird problem burning DVDs with Toast 5.1.2 on a beige
G3 with Mac OS 9.2.2, 64 MB RAM. The burner is a Lacie DVD Burner, (a
Pioneer A04 I believe), connected via firewire. The firewire port is
provided by a Keyspan firewire PCI card. The partitions that we burn
from were created with silver lining. The problems we have are that
the disc will burn fine, then the verification process will fail.
This happens in 1 out of every 3-4 discs burned. And, every time that
the verification fails, Toast says it is around sector
2,xxx,xxx-2,1xx,xxx. We have done just about everything to this
machine, including re-installing the OS, using minimum extensions set,
re-installing Toast. We use Norton disk doctor each time on the files
before we burn the DVD. And, we have an older CD burner also connected
via the same firewire card that works fine. We have also tried the
burner on a different machine and no problems.

This system worked for 6 months without a problem, then all of a
sudden started giving us these problems within the past 4 months or
so. Has anybody seen similar problems in Toast??? We'd appreciate
any feedback.

Thanks,

Chris
I had a similar problem with OS 9.0.4 and OS 9.2.2 with Toast 4.1.2 and
Jam 2.6 when burning CDs. I got round the problem by disabling the
firewire and USB authoring support extensions. It might be that there
is a similar issue with the later version of Toast and DVD. Have you
tried contacting Roxio for help? thier turnround for support is quite
good.

Actually, those two extensions have been disabled on our system all along.
We've contacted Roxio a few times already, but the things they have
mentioned did not work so far.

Thanks again,
