I'm using a PSION Dacom Gold Card 56k modem with a G3 233 Powerbook and I find a lot of the time it connects and then complains there is no carrier. It sounds like only one of the modems (the remote one ?) is doing any handshaking but I couldn't be sure. This is particularly irritating because by the time it gives up I have paid for the call :-(. I also get quite a few dropped connections. The modem is sold in Australia for Macintosh with a seperate instruction sheet on how to install it and some modem CCL scripts on a floppy. I get these problems with either OT/PPP or FreePPP 2.6.2. At the moment I am going back to my 28800 card modem. A modem that connects all the time and runs at half the speed seems more useful! Last thought - I have two of these, my wife also has one so it isn't a problem with one particular card. Thanks for any info. Michael PS Don't tell me its because I haven't got backside cache :-)
