Hi, Currently, I do optimization to my code. Is the basic function memset() vectorized? Is there a need for enabling the Altivec compile settings (and which ones), for using vectorized memset()? or I have to write by myself. Thanks for your help... Raz M.

If you're using StdLib or the Mach-O BSD lib, I think they might be. > Is there a need for enabling the Altivec compile settings (and which ones), > for using vectorized memset()? No. You only need to enable AltiVec compiler settings if you are trying to vectorize your own code. There is no need to enable it for code in other libraries. > or I have to write by myself. It's your call. Use the standard functions, and if they don't provide enough performance for you, feel free to rewrite them yourself.

If you are using memset to zero-out memory, you might look up the BlockZero () toolbox function (in Carbon). It should be AltiVec enabled. Darrin
