This renders them nearly useless. Could you please have someone fix that? Thanks. Larry Gerndt Pixion mailto:larry@pixion.com http://www.pixion.com 925-467-5350

I've asked that this be sorted and for it to be sortable. I am not sure
if they can do this easily or if it will take a while.

Apparently it was easily done. !!
http://www.metrowerks.com/MW/Support/powerplant/default.htm
The archives can now be sorted by Date.
The plans are in the future to have asearch that allows for date ranges
but for now the ability to sort by date, name, category and author is
available.

I've tried it three times in the last 20 minutes, and gotten a:
--------------
HTTP 500.100 - Internal Server Error - ASP error
 More information:
Microsoft Support <http://www.microsoft.com/ContentRedirect.asp?prd=iis&sbp=&pver=5.0&ID=500;100&cat=Active+Server+Pages&os=&over=&hrd=&Opt1=ASP+0113&Opt2=%2D2147467259&Opt3=Script+timed+out>
--------------
from your web server each time.
It is probably a bad idea for you to use a web host that redirects
your clients to your competitor's web site.

Are you sure this error isn't from your browser it seems like I get that
a lot.

Hey Ron, do you have any idea why the archive requests submissions in .sit.hqx form? Isn't that kind of archaic? What's wrong with plain .sit or even .dmg or .img? (On my main machine, I don't have any way to create .hqx files. I have some version of DropStuff, but it only produces zero-byte .hqx files.)

I've seen Dropstuff 5.5 work without problems, and even BinHex 4.0, a 6,911 byte application written in 68K assembly language in 1985, still works. (It is the oldest Mac program I still use regularly.)

They want them in TEXT based probably for portability reasons and no
resource forks. I think however it is just a request.
Sorry for not seeing this sooner, I've been on vacation.

I think however it is just a request. A .sit file is plain binary, with no resource forks. Simply tell users to upload a their .sit as plain binary and everyone will be happy. hqx re-encodes a file in a 7-bit format. It's a hangover from the days before the net was 8-bit clean -- my advice is to forget it. These days, it just bloats files for no good reason. You wouldn't ask anyone to uuencode a .gz or .zip file, would you? It's the same argument. The only thing that I care about is that I can download it with my browser, and an appropriate helper launches to extract it. It could be transliterated by a trained monkey for all I care. meeroh
