Database Publishing on NeXT, YumYum announces VarioData V2.5

Hamburg, 4.11.92. YumYum Software Development adds an interface to
FrameMaker to their VarioData database. This makes Database Publishing
on NeXT computers possibles for the first time.

Texts and images are exported from the database and imported into
FrameMaker. The different formats are adapted to the FrameMaker layout
automatically. No further formatting procedures are necessary.  The
documents are ready to print right after the import. The co-operation
of FrameMaker and VarioData saves a lot of time.


The Basics Of Database Publishing

The FrameMaker document defines the basic layout and the default
fonts.  VarioData presents the desired data records and associates
them with the document layout. The resolution and position of the
images can be determined. All panels correspond to FrameMaker setting
panels. No training is necessary.

Texts with font information keep these infos during the export and
conditional text is set according to the definitions in FrameMaker.

Example: A dictionary of 250 pages and 50 images can be exported from
VarioData and imported and automatically formatted in FrameMaker in
less than fifteen minutes. No further formatting or layout work has to
be done. The book will be ready to print right after the import.



VarioData  - Individual Data Administration For NeXT Computers

VarioData is an application to design individual databases. The
program places various data elements at your disposal to create the
database you are requiring. According to your demands you can design
databases to any extend desired.

VarioData handles texts, images, sounds, files, key words and much
more. Formulas can be defined as well as default values and ranges.
VarioData accepts EPS, TIFF, RTF, plain ASCII and Sound. The database
can be filled by typing the data into the respective fields or by
dragging the files out of the Workspace into the fields or into the
VarioData icon.

VarioData manages even large amounts of data. The search for data
records is done easily considering various search criteria. All data
records are listed clearly arranged in a user-definable listbox.
VarioData allows the design of merged letters with all data of your
database. There is a large number of layout tools as well as functions
to define any formulas. Additionally VarioData offers a tool to create
labels to any extend desired.

VarioData offers an import and export interface to communicate with
other programs. If necessary VarioData converts the characters
according to different character sets.

VarioData is the unique database which supports the co-operation with
FrameMaker. Thus Database Publishing is possible on NeXT computers for
the first time.

VarioData doesn't need any server, it's a flat-file database. The
extension to SQL databases is in development.

Data records in work are locked and are unlocked automatically after
finishing the work. All data records are secure network-wide.
