I have a need to receive files from a variety of other platforms, from mainframes to PC's. I need to be able to receive it via either ethernet or serial line, depending on the capabilities available. Ethernet should provide no problems and I guess using something like kermit would do the proper file format conversions and error detection for serial lines. But then I need to be able to map data fields in the received files with a standard format. So I need to know the mapping of data element names (this data is database data, so is identified by different names on different systems) and the positions of each data element in each data row (or record). Provided with this info, does anyone know of an available app to do the data mappings, preferably a NeXTSTEP app? If so, please contact me. Thanks. -- Art Isbell Cubic Solutions NeXT Registered Developer #745 NeXT software development and consulting Email: isbell@cats.UCSC.EDU Voice: (408)335-1154 USmail: 95018-9442 Fax: (408)335-2515
