Hello. We are setting up a NeXT Lab here at York for our
Computer-Assisted Writing Centre. We are trying to decide which word
processor we should go with. We used to offer emacs on our Unix
system, and our choice for the new environment seems to be narrowing
down to either WriteNow or WordPerfect. Can anybody make some
suggestions and describe their experiences?
Our lab services primarily undergrad level arts, humanities and social
science courses (about 2000 users per year). The variables most
important to our making a decision are ease of use and flexibility for
the student, ease of training, compatibility with other systems,
ability to handle footnotes, bibliographies, commenting, formatting in
APA and MLA style, endnotes, customizability, facility to move, copy
and place text into background and retrieve, grammar and spell
checkers, etc.
Since I am not able to read this group regularly, please respond to my
email address.
Thanks in advance,
Ron
