I tried that, and had similar results - fonts would show up for the  
user that installed them, but not for others.

One of the fonts I tried had a note saying to run something called  
'cacheAFMdata' but this doesn't seem to exist on my system.

In general, though, am I the only one to think that none of this is  
in the spirit of NeXT?  Things like this are supposed to 'just work.'   
Compared to the ease with which fonts are installed on a Mac, even  
running buildafmdir (assuming it works) seems almost DOS-like.
