If "Upgrade" causes slowness, then I would rather do it the hard way. >Many of the good/interesting demo's are gone (where are Fractal Trees - >or am I the only one who liked it ;-) What happened to Icon? >I guess I'm lucky to have an OD system with a clean 2.1 disk handy... I just doubleclicked this in 2.1 and then clicked on "Make". Boom! There I was looking at a Login window. Perhaps that is why it is gone. >Is it me or are CD-ROM's _s_l_o_w_...? Seems I wait 10-20 seconds >each time I 'browse' over to a file/folder on a CD... Using "Workspace" in 2.1, with the new CDROM driver and a Sun CDROM drive, I copied the Q2 1992 Demo CDROM to an empty hard disk. Both locally attached. After the copy: /dev/rsd3h 630000 630000 0 100% /Q2_92_2 (CDROM) /dev/sd1a 667719 292099 308848 49% /Q2_92 (HD) It took 4 1/4 hours for the actual copy to start, and another 20 hours before it was finished. This does seem a tad slow. ... Richard -- This space is not blank!
