here is a summary:
we're on a university ethernet system and use netinfo and nfs under 3.0

the /usr/spool/mail and /NextLibrary/People/Images directories mount correctly 

the system sends mail out correctly

the mail server recieves mail and places it into /usr/spool/mail

command line Mail works fine

the problem is this: 
 no user except root on the mailserver is able to retrieve mail using Mail.app

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
