Hi all, I just spent several hours reading the System Admin manual but still could not fix this problem. I have a stand-alone NeXTCube (NS2.0) twisted-paired to a non-Netinfo network. The machine is configured with an assigned + registered hostname (b206d.tsq.brown.edu) in the brown.edu domain and an assigned IP address (you should be able to nslookup the machine). I have also enabled BIND using the brown.edu nameserver. So far ftp, rlogin, telnet, as well as outgoing mail work correctly. The problem is that incoming mail messages still are not delivered correctly -- they bounced back to the sender (you can try this too, mail hlin@b206d.tsq.brown.edu). When I boot the machine, I get this: mount: mailhost not in hosts database giving up on /usr/spool/mail mount: mailhost not in hosts database giving up on /LocalLibrary/Images/People Any tips on how to add mailhost to the hosts database or how to resolve this situation are appreciated. Please e-mail as I doubt this will be of general interest. Thanks. -- Heng [] Heng-Yi Lin, hyl@cs.brown.edu, hyl@browncs.BITNET [] PO Box 4901, Brown Univ., Providence, RI 02912 [] Phone/Fax: 401.274.4217 or Phone: 401.863.4988
