Hi Folks, I'd like to know how to get the system to recognize .ai files as "belonging" to Adobe Illustrator (like it did in 2.x). Any suggestions? (Why do I get the feeling I'm going to be buying a few 3.0-related third party software upgrades?) Thanks, Don (d_mc@mccube.tucson.az.us) (Another 3.0 oddity to add to the list: instead of winning a "Hunter" game, the mines count went to -1 and the "clock kept on tick'n", too. Never had that happen in 2.x. I sure hope that's a software bug.)

Any suggestions? You have something like (this is from memory) /LocalApps/Adobe_Illustrator1.03.app. Change its name to Adobe_Illustrator.app, leaving out the numbers. Then the program file within it will appear in the brower as Adobe_Illustrator1.03 (or some such). Change its name, too, to remove the number. Then it will work. (You may need to log out and in, or some other silly magic, too.) -- Irving_Wolfe@Happy-Man.com Happy Man Corp. 206/463-9399 x101 4410 SW Pt. I sure hope that's a software bug.) Change the name of Adobe_Illustrator3.0.1.app file package to Adobe_Illustrator.app, then open the application file package (Command-O)and change the name of the application from Adobe_Illustrator3.0.1 to Adobe_Illustrator. Things should now work as they did under 2.1. -- Dennis Wisinski, Stanford Linear Accelerator Center P.O. Box 4349, MS 97 Stanford, CA 94309 wisinski@slac.stanford.edu (NeXT Mail)

Humm, Illustrator is working fine on my machine with 3.0. I can double click on .ai files and everything. I installed 3.0 from scratch and then reinstalled Illustrator so maybe that is how it needs to be done. -- Brian Caslis * Email: brianc@pdx.mentorg.com Mentor Graphics Corp. * 8005 S.W.
