I have been told that my sendmail does not understand MX records, so that I cannot send mail to xyy@undergrad.math.uwaterloo.ca on my campus; it says that Host undergrad.math is down. I am still running NeXT OS 2.1 with sendmail version 5.52. Is there an easy way to upgrade sendmail or change my sendmail.cf or should I wait till I upgrade to NeXT OS 3.0 (3.1)? +------------------------------------------------------+ Will Gilbert, Pure Math Dept, University of Waterloo wgilbert@fatou.UWaterloo.ca [NeXT mail welcome] wgilbert@math.UWaterloo.ca

Als, as with everything involving shredmail(tm), you have to have all the related incantations done correctly and in the right order. In particular, check your resolv.conf, and make sure that your NeXT can reach out to the DNS server and fetch the records. IIf you lack a resolv.conf, get one from your network adminsitrator (or mfcf) and check that the domain line in it doesn't cause your sendmail to decide that your hostname is something like foo@uwaterloo.ca.uwaterloo.ca... Like I said, **all** your incantations! --dave (the postmaster, who therefor hates sendmail) c-b -- David Collier-Brown, | davecb@CCS.YorkU.CA | lethe!dave 72 Abitibi Ave., | Willowdale, Ontario, | York Postmaster and CANADA. 416-223-8968 | occasional email consultant.
