ROM versions

I have two 'stations, one with ROM monitor version 2.1 v59, one with
ROM monitor version 2.4 v.65. Can I get the PROM updated in the old
station? How? How much $$? Could this old PROM be wreaking havoc with
my network setup (see my previous post, the older 'station is acting as
the netinfo server)?

Thanks,
anwar

NeXT's policy is not to sell the ROMs. If you would like NeXT to change
thier policy, you should contact hardware marketing.

The only difference between those two ROM versions is that v65 supports
some minor changes to the PC board design. Your older slab would not do
anything differently were you to install a newer ROM--well, if you were to
install a ROM version 3.0 or higher, it could boot directly from a CD-ROM.

I would be surprised if there were any bugs in the ROM code. It is not
terribly complex, there are a finite number of things that it needs to
support, and NeXT thoroughly tests all of these. NeXTSTEP is a different
matter.
