Is it possible to use a NeXT to convert a twisted-pair ethernet connection to
the other format (I forget its name) via the following hookup:
==================> NeXT ----------------------> machine with BNC connector
(twisted pair in) (out from BNC connector)
(terminated correctly of course)
Thanks.

In article <4195@ucsbcsl.ucsb.edu> doug@foxtrot.ccmrc.ucsb.edu writes: >Is it possible to use a NeXT to convert a twisted-pair ethernet connection to >the other format (I forget its name) via the following hookup: > >==================> NeXT ----------------------> machine with BNC connector >(twisted pair in) (out from BNC connector) > (terminated correctly of course) I doubt if both of these Ethernet connectors are active. Cabletron makes a media adapter that will convert TWP to thinwire. It's not cheap (est. $400) but it's a pretty handy device. Check your local network cabling vendor for cheaper models from other manufacturers. -- Mark T.
