I used to be a definite. But now I am planning to use a Sun 3/50 (which I can also run mach on) as a graphics card/ethernet connection. Now I am am a "proabably will, subject to various IFs". Principally, if it is cheap enough. I would be rather interested in using it for multi-processor mach. (Which probably means putting a 532 instead of a GX32 in there). > I tend to favour a Single run, opinions welcomed, Well, the double run would be nice (in terms of the final product being bug free) but I suspect with our numbers, it won't be very feasible. > Some specs for the et532 follow (for those that don't keep copies of past > history): > > 20MHz 32gx32, no FPU. > 1M/4M DRAM (256kx4 or 1mx4) 100ns or faster, fast page mode. > same performance as pc532 (except at 20MHz, i.e. 40Mbytes/sec) Presumably, 25MHz is possible if the same speed parts are used as in the PC532? > Ethernet, thin (cheapernet) and thick (DB15 connector) NS chipset > SCSI, DP8490 (via 62pin edge connector and 50 pin SCSI connector) Experience with writing drivers for the dp8490 leads me to suggest that a counter to count DRQ's would be a really good idea. 8 bits would be enough to be useful. Since we should have control of the software at both ends, the absence of such a counter is less of a problem. Ian
