Pardon me but when I installed WIN 95 (or NT for that matter),
I had to do nothing which required me to know commands, how to navigate
the Internet, not even to have a computer.

So your first statement is contradicted by the other dozen points you make.

It's easy to forget that not everyone is as technology litterate as you and
your roommate might be. And an OS that is designed for the technically challenged 
might have to be designed and distributed a bit differently than one that appeals
to the already knowledged.
