And for those of us who live in the real world, how exactly do you
propose this happens? When I install one copy of QT 2.0 on my system, all
my QT-aware apps beenfit. How do they all beneify on your system?
How do the newly linked against static QT 2.0 Word Perfect and Adobe
Premier and Excel and Filemaker all get distributed? There's no central
place I can go to download them all, not to mention the people without
network access. Who want's to keep track of which of their apps have been
relinked against the new QuickTime, or Sound Manager, or QuickDraw GX or
QuickDraw 3D etc etc. How do you distribute these new
versions---certainly not as freely ftpable binaries. But if they are
delta, against what do they delta---the base version, or the version
using QuickTime 1.6, but QuickDraw GX 1.1.1, and Sound Manager 3.0? To
bad if your last version was updated by a delta to QuickDraw GX 1.1.2.

You seem unaware of the vast gap between "theory" and reality.
For heavens sake, in theory we can do all the computation we want on a
Turing machine. By your logic, anyone working to produce anything more
sophisticated is wasting their time.
