Did the WSJ mention the source of this "data?"
Oh, well - here I go again (folks must be getting real tired of this - I
know I am):
From the Aug. 23/95 issue of Computer Dealer News, p. 29:
Canadian Shipments of PC's by Operating System
1993 1994 1995 (YTD May)
---- ---- --------------
Windows/DOS 61.2 57.3 53.4
DOS alone 18.8 13.3 11.6
Mac OS 10.3 12.5 12.6
Source: IDC Canada Ltd.
Yep - in this part of the world at least, Windows shipments are
*declining* and Mac OS shipments are increasing.
In addition, the *installed* base of Macs is growing at a faster rate than
that of Windows-based machines according to several independent sources,
including Computer Intelligence Infocorp's 1994 survey that revealed a 10%
installed base increase for Macs vs. a 7% increase for Windows-based PC's.
Anything but a "drop" and a far cry from 6%. Are things really that
different in the U.S.? BTW, most estimates place the installed base of
Macs at about 15% market share.
