AFAIK Linux supports most standard ATAPI CD-ROMs. Im using the CDU76E
from Sony and it's a real beauty. It also supports the CR-521, CR-522,
CR-523, CR-562 and CR-563 CD-ROM drives, traditionally connected to a
Soundblaster on an IDE look-alike connector. The Mitsumi drives found
on some more recent Soundblasters (FX200 & FX400?) are also supported.
The Sony CDU-31A and CDU-33A drives are supported, as is Sony CDU-535
drives. In addition most SCSI CD-ROMs should work flawlessly.

I have yet to find a CD-ROM which doesnt work with the most upto-date
kernel drivers.

My list is by no means complete. Try getting a CD-ROM or Hardware FAQ
from sunsite or a mirror. If you have any troubles then ask on one of
the c.o.l.* groups or an irc #linux group.

Why, he wondered, did so many people spend their lives not trying to
find answers to questions - not even thinking of questions, to begin
with? Was there anything more exciting in life than finding answers?
