Actually, their sales are better than ever. They sold over a million
PPC-based computers last quarter (along with MacOS's of course). The
problem is their profict margin, which has steadily decreased over the
past year as they have decreased prices, especially on the Performas, to
increase market share. They have succeeded in increasing market share at
the cost of profits, and now they are paying the cost. IMHO, they should
really get the Mac clone business going stronger, then lay off the
hardware sales and concentrate on software, MacOS marketing, and new
technology. You cannot afford to both develop software like Microsoft and
sell hardware like Dell while staying highly profitable these days.
