Hint: You have no idea of what a Mac can or can't do.

You wanted a "comparable up time on a non-idle Mac box," and I gave it to
you.  If you want Workgroup Server times, the best I know of is about six
months (yes, I know what a WS is, and *yes*, Macs have been doing it for
years).  

Here's another one: I have another client that bought a small server (a
6150 series) last year.  They've taken it down twice, both times to move
to different offices.  Bigger offices- they're expanding like crazy. 
Other than that, it's run smooth and uninterrupted for the last six
months.  It does everything from print sharing to file sharing to program
serving.  It's the main repository for the whole office, and they have had
*zero* problems.
