It is sad that these factors are considerations. This is the reason we
are stuck with this shitty VHS standard. If Sony hadn't been stupid
and greedy, we would all be using Beta VCR's wouldn't we?

I work for one of the largest internet service providers in the
country and every employee has a mac on their desk. My last job was
with a publisher of interpretations of government regulations, also a
mac shop.

Yeah, right. Ever hear of plug and play? How about PostScript, or
MacTCP? Considering that we are communicating via the internet, I'd
like to say that configuring a mac for a ppp dialup is one whole hell
of a lot easier than a PC (assuming you go the shareware route).

As a person whose job it is to install, upgrade and troubleshoot
hardware and software, my choice for business will always be the mac.
It doesn't matter what business you are in, most of your users will be
idiots. The simpler it is to learn, the better for me. As has been
said before in this thread, there is no need to continue re-inventing
the wheel. Teaching 100 people a command line interface probably takes
4-5 times as long as an intuitive GUI. Less time training=more time
working.

For example, how many people spent hours (weeks? months?) learing
Wordperfect 4.x and 5.x commands, which became useless when
WordPerfect 6 came out? If anyone is willing to defend WordPerfect
(the vi of the pc) vs. a windows or mac wordprocesser I'd like to see
them try. (Word 6.0 excluded).

Also, as a tech, I like that it takes less than 5 minutes to install
more ram or a cd-rom player. Just because something isn't hard doesn't
make it any less worthwhile.
