: Nada. Our sys admin is a very highly respected (nationally) unix expert.

pardon me if I have problems believing that someone who doesn't read the
release notes and can't keep a Solaris 2.4 system running without
crashing is a "very highly respected (nationally) unix expert."

: Nope. This 'station is neither diskless nor dataless. It has all it's os

:
well, if its running something critical off those NFS volumes, along with
its configuration files etc, I could see the potential for it locking up
