MS can never fully shake the ghost of DOS with Win'9X, so they're
maneuvering users over to NT. When NT has '95 features, and users are
used to ponying up 16 megs of RAM, then the challenge will be real for
Apple, if Copland isn't out. All real Win'95 Apps have to run in NT and
NT is starting gain steam as a pro 3D developers environment. It could
conceivably win over other graphics categories if Apple gets lazy.

: As is generally agreed, System 7 is far far behind Apple's hardware.
: It's Apple's #1 priority to fix that.

: See, it's all software.

Agreed.

With all the system crashes experienced with the current test version
of Copland, you may be a bit disappointed with the initial release, as
are many PC users with the initial release of Win95. Of course by the
time Copland is released, Win96 will probably be ready :) .

Whoa, it's over a year until final release. How can you say that the
final droduct can be judge by a pre-alpha build?

I'm not aware that Copland is even in Beta yet -- where did you get a test
version.

I'm willing to bet the MS won't use a year in a product name again in a hurry.

Now who do you know that has a real version of Copland?

The trollock that was asking questions about it on
comp.sys.mac.programmer.misc?

I don't think so, and if he *did* have a version, it was so
pre-general-beta that it's amazing that it didn't eat his computer,
harddrive and modem for breakfast...

I don't know for certain, but I'd guess that Copland isn't even being
distributed outside Apple yet.

Read last Sunday's S.J. Mercury-News. I did say test version.

Perhaps not, but it was demonstrated to the Mercury writer. Crashed
often.

Alpha software tends to do that on any platform...
