I remember from my SysAdmin course at Sequent (two years ago) that the S81 did not support SCSI disks; only the S27 did. I have heard however, that there is now an upgrade to make it SCSI compatible. It requires changing the SCSI bus and I believe it also needs a power supply upgrade. That's why I am suprised that you were able to do it. But what do I know, I'm still running Dynix V3.0.17. Do you use the Multibus too? ------------------------------------------------------------- stuart.irving@canrem.UUCP - UUCP stuart.irving@canrem.com - Internet sirving%corpsqnt@elegant.com - Preferred mail feed --- þ DeLuxeý/386 1.25 #163 þ The hologram is your assurance that this is a msg -- Canada Remote Systems - Toronto, Ontario/Detroit, MI World's Largest PCBOARD System - 416-629-7000/629-7044

I believe our Sequent will be turning 10 this year. She's an oldie. In fact we upgraded from the National CPUs (32016s?). I wouldn't think it matters but our SCSI drive has its own power supply. >That's why I am suprised that you were able to do it. A note on the back says "25 OCT 85", serial no 8559, and we still have the ns32032 CPUs. >> That's why I am suprised that you were able to do it. And, no, our computer club can't afford a SCED card from Sequent that would enable us to upgrade to Dynix 3. Well, anyway, with a little luck we will have a SCED card in a month or two that someone might donate to us.
