I have tried logging into the SGI and setting the |> display variable, but that doesn't work. if you are running irix 4.0.* (i.e. the x environment) this should work for programs which just utilize X for graphics. programs which use gl for graphics will not show up on an x-terminal. to verify the connection attempt to run /usr/bin/X11/xclock (a plain vanilla x client) and see if it shows up. it should. if it doesn't then something isn't setup correctly. use echo $DISPLAY to see what it is set to as a first step. a program like /usr/demos/bin/insect should not show up because it is a gl program. -- Brett Bainter Silicon Graphics brettb@sgi.com
